This Year's Game

The Game

This year’s First robotics FRC game is called Logomotion. In Logomotion, alliances of three robots each compete against each other on a 27 by 54 foot field during a 2 minute and 15 second period. Robots have to place inflated triangle, circle, and square tubes on racks on their alliance wall in order to score. Each rack has 9 pegs in which to place the game pieces, and there are two racks on each alliance wall. Teams are awarded more points if they place game pieces higher on the rack, and their score is doubled if pieces are placed in the order of the FIRST logo (triangle, circle, then square). During the first 15 seconds of the match, robots operate in autonomous; they are programmed to move independently of the driver station. During this time, each robot is allowed to hold an Ubertube, an inflated game piece that, when placed on a peg during the autonomous period, will give the alliance extra points. After the 15 second period, robots go into teleoperated mode, where drivers can take control of the robot and place the other game pieces on the rack. Game pieces can be obtained from human players on the sides of the opponent’s driver stations. During the last 10 seconds of the match, robots can deploy minibots onto one of the two alliance towers in the fields. The minibots race to the top of the tower, and the alliances are awarded points in accordance with the place the minibot came in. The alliance with the most points wins the match.
